Tachyon-I is dual ARM9 core based Multimedia Processor designed for mobile or handheld devices. Multi-standard and VP6, VP7 video decoding up to D1 resolution is supported. It is produced by 65nm Low-Power Process of Samsung Electronics.

Applications
VP6 is codec of On2 Technologies and used by Adobe’s Flash Video, #1 IP video format. Recently, most of UCC sharing sites are using Flash Video Format for streaming video contents. But in fact, it’s very tough to play VP6 based Flash Video or UCC on portable device, because software solution is faced with many issues like performance, video quality, power consumption, and etc. Tachyon-I would be the first chip supporting hardwired VP6 decoder, so that you can play UCC on your portable device directly (without transcoding).
